Athy shopper wins €1,000 from town promoters draw

Athy Town Promotors very grateful for everyone who shopped local this year
Athy Town Promoters held their annual Christmas draw, which has been running for the last nine years, on 23 December. Up for grabs was a cash prize of €1000, and 40 spot prizes provided by local businesses. The draw was supported by Athy Municipal District’s local property tax (LPT).
To enter the draw, Athy residents had to purchase something from a local business for a price as little as a coffee in the months of November and December. Approximately 100,000 Christmas draw tickets were given out over the two month period.
Athy resident, Margaret McDonnell in Kilberry won the cash prize of €1000 after getting her ticket in O’Moores Chemist.
A lot of the spot prizes were purchased by local businesses from other local businesses, creating a wonderful circular economy in Athy this Christmas.
The winners were treated to a large range of prizes. From air fryers, to money vouchers from €200 to €50 in price, and hampers with food, drink, cosmetics, or fuel. One winner even won two tickets to Athy’s own summer music festival, Greenfields.
