Dana among guest speakers at Monasterevin Novena
Dana Rosemary Scallon will be opening the event this March
A SPECIAL Novena in honour of Our Lady of Perpetual Help will take place in St Peter and Paul Church, Monasterevin from 9 March to 13 March, featuring an array of acclaimed guest speakers each evening, all under the theme 'Baptised and Sent'.
Parish priest Fr Liam Merrigan, said the Novena will continue throughout the week with a variety of speakers contributing reflections each night. A parish poster outlining the full schedule of dates and guest speakers has been circulated locally.
The five-day event will open on Monday 9 March with an address by singer and former Eurovision winner Dana Rosemary Scallon.
Dana rose to international fame after winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 1970 and has remained a prominent figure in Irish public life, since entering Irish politics in 1997.
On Tuesday 10 March, a guest speaker from Cuan Mhuire – a centre for those battling addictions – will speak to the audience.
The next night, on Wednesday 11 March, guest speaker Declan Prendergast will take the pew to speak to attendees a bit about his life as a recently ordained deacon.
Thursday night will feature another fantastic speaker, which is yet to be announced.
On the last night, Friday 13 March, Trócaire’s Conor Kelly will be speaking about his recent experience working as a field officer in Malawi.
The annual Novena is expected to draw attendees from Monasterevin and surrounding areas.
