Féile Sráide hits Naas for Patrick's Day

Ceol agus craic
THE streets of Naas were hopping again this year on St Patrick’s day for the Féile Sráide organised by Cill Dara le Gaeilge and Sult na Sollán.
The entertainment was spread out over four locations in the town – Naas Courthouse, The Moat Mall, The Old Potato Market and Poplar Square.
There was something for all ages – traditional music, modern music, Irish dancing, modern dancing, and even the brush dance, something organisers are pretty sure has never previously been done on the streets of Naas!
Performing music and dance on the day were pupils from Gaelscoil Nás na Ríogh, students (and even a teacher!) from Gaelcholáiste Chill Dara, Infinity Movement dance school, Kilteel Comhaltas Ceoltóirí and Muintir Uí Mhórdha.
The Old Potato Market drew crowds for the magician and science shows and the Moat Mall hosted the comedian Aideen McQueen as well as poetry recitations, music and dancing.
The day was brought to a lively end with a 'céilí mór' at Poplar Square. A fabulous community day, and a great day for the Irish language.
Cill Dara le Gaeilge and Sult na Sollán were supported in organising the day by Kildare County Council, Creative Ireland and Foras na Gaeilge in particular.
