Off on the Field of Dreams circuit.

It wasn't the largest first evening turnout in the six years since Kilcullen began participating in the post-Christmas GAA Lights Up fitness initiative, probably due to the fact that it had been postponed for a week because of the cold snap.

But an enthusiastic group of people took part in the first of the series of Monday nights that will run until 10 February.

The sessions will take place between 7pm-8pm and all are welcome to join in. As the lighting on the new Field of Dreams walking track have not yet been switched on by ESB, the participants last week used the shorter part of the new track, circling the main pitch, to make up their 5K exercise. It is hoped the new lights will be in place shortly, which will enable the full 1.2km circuit to be used.

The Monday evening walks now augment a range of other activities by the club through participation in the GAA Healthy Clubs initiative.

That scheme is focusing on improving physical and mental health across the community and all organisations in Kilcullen will soon be invited to officially participate.
