The new walkway around Kilcullen GAA grounds made a perfect circuit for these young women members of the club on their solothon.

IT was a campaign just one month long, but the Kilcullen to Kroker and Back Solothon €60,000 fundraiser was an outstanding success.

By the end of this month, the car park area at the Kilcullen GAA clubhouse will be well on the way to being fully resurfaced, as befits the rest of the club's Field of Dreams project.

At the close of the event on Sunday 3 November, 928km of solos had been completed by a total of 404 participants. All team age groups took part, as did many club supporters and former club members, some of whom did their contributions in the different parts of the world where they now live.

A final lap of honour was carried out by longtime club stalwarts Betty and Michael Lambe to conclude the day, Betty demonstrating she is proficient at soloing with a hurl.

At the time of writing, €56,484 had been registered on the club's website, and climbing, with a number of sponsorship cards yet to be tallied. The target was very much likely to be achieved, and the work will be carried out in association with partner sponsor Kilsaran.
