Locals gives Newbridge a Spring Clean

EYRE Street and Market Square got a lift this week as residents, businesses, community groups and local agencies came together for a major Spring Clean organised by SAFER Newbridge.

The clean-up, held as part of the An Taisce National Spring Clean, saw volunteers roll up their sleeves and get stuck into some of the busiest parts of Newbridge town centre.

From litter picks to repainting bollards and benches, cleaning signage and tidying up public areas, the focus was simple: make Eyre Street and Market Square cleaner, brighter and more welcoming for everyone who uses them.

“Eyre Street and Market Square are at the heart of Newbridge,” said cllr Chris Pender. “They are places people walk through every day, where people shop, meet, work and live.

“It was brilliant to see so many people out. Residents, businesses, community groups and agencies all working side by side. No fuss, no speeches, just people getting stuck in and making a visible difference.

“That is the kind of community spirit that makes Newbridge what it is.

"A huge thank you to everyone who gave their time and energy. Newbridge Tidy Towns, The Probation Service, SURF, Newbridge Malayali Association, Foróige, Newbridge Community Development, An Garda Síochána Kildare, and every resident and business who came out and do their bit for the community."
