The the Trap/Neuter/Return scheme has proved very effective

AS mentioned, several times in this column, the KWWSPCA Cat Team operate a ‘Trap, Neuter, Return’ scheme where our volunteers attend to a feral colony of cats by trapping as many as possible, taking them to the Vet for neutering and health check, and then returning the healthy ones to where they were found. Kittens, pregnant cats or cats in poor health are not returned but new homes found for them instead.

There is a very high demand from the public for this service, but our volunteer numbers and our funds are limited - all this costs money and Vet bills and medication are not cheap!

The never-ending fundraising continues. Our team is currently attending to a colony of at least 20 cats living in poor conditions in the Athy area. Very kind local workers and residents have been leaving food out for them for a long time now.

At time of writing 14 cats had been successfully trapped, nine of them pregnant, so you can understand how this colony would very quickly get out of control if cats are not neutered/spayed. We are appealing for help with our bills for this case. Donations can be made online through our website www.kwwspca.ie by clicking on the orange ‘DONATE’ button at the top of the screen.

Please type the initials ‘TNR’ in the donation comment box if you wish. We really would appreciate all your help thanks.

Jasper is a very handsome lurcher in need of a home.

Unfortunately, Jasper is not comfortable in busy environments. Nor is he happy to be surrounded by other dogs. Jasper needs a rural home where he can feel relaxed in nature and doesn’t have to deal with traffic, people or dogs!

Pictured here in his happy place, which is quite simply a walk in a quiet area with one of our volunteers, Jasper is a friendly guy who just wants a peaceful life where he is loved and allowed to be at ease.

You can read all about him on the ‘adopt a dog’ section of our website. All our details can be found at www.kwwspca.ie.
