'Guardian angel' dog didn't leave Geraldine's side after fall
Geraldine and Ruby
DOGS of all forms come into the care of the KWWSPCA.
Some have had a rough past, some are sad or shut down, some are loud with their resentment or boredom and then some are simply happy little creatures, glad to be safe and appreciative of all human contact.
One such happy dog was Ruby, who turned out to be a guardian angel in disguise when she minded our volunteer rather than the other way around. Unfortunately, Geraldine had a fall early one morning while attending to Ruby in her outdoor kennel and with what turned out to be a dislocated shoulder, was unable to raise herself from the ground.
Little Ruby did not leave her side while all the time smothering her with kisses and hugs as Geraldine cried for help. That help eventually arrived and thankfully a good recovery has been made. Geraldine credits our little hero with providing her with comfort and company as she lay incapacitated.
Ruby has since been adopted, and her new owner keeps Geraldine regularly updated with Ruby’s life and adventures. It’s easy to see why Geraldine calls her ‘my angel’.
Zelda is currently in need of a home. Only 14 months old, she’s an overgrown puppy where everything is a game to her and playtime can be a bit rough. She has endless energy and loves to run around our garden, which thankfully helps to burn some off!

Zelda is strong on the lead, so will need a capable adult handler and preferably someone with experience of large breed dogs. She is not suited to a home with young children as she would knock them over in her exuberance.
Zelda is a friendly girl, shows no aggression towards anyone and is well socialised having shared her foster home with other dogs and cats. Her photos and details are available on our website.
