Reggie is in need of a good home
THE current wonderful weather has cheered us all up at our dog shelter.
Warm, dry weather makes such a difference when walking dogs in grassy fields, with no more squelching through the mud and no more cold hands and wet feet!
Our dogs too are loving this change as bulky dog coats are discarded; nighttime heat lamps are no longer needed, and sun beds are placed outside for our lazy lurchers to soak up some afternoon rays.
We are currently preparing for our spring/summer fundraising activities with April shaping up to be a busy month for us.
We will be at Punchestown Racecourse on the Friday before Easter (18 April) for our annual Easter Egg Hunt & Dog Walk, with the activities kicking off at 2pm.
More on this next week. We will be there again for Walking Sunday on 27 April before the main annual racing festival, on the kind invitation of Punchestown Racecourse Management.
We very much look forward to bringing some of our shelter dogs with us for a day trip and a nice change of scenery for them.
Our biggest event will be our Spring Fair & Pop-up Shop in Newbridge Town Hall on 26-27 April 26 so please save the dates as there will be amazing bargains to be had.
This week we introduce you to Reggie, who’s been with us for a few months without getting an offer of a forever home. Reggie is a male wire-haired Pointer/Collie Cross who’s two-three years of age with endless energy and loves any kind of exercise, be it a good walk or playtime with our volunteers.
He requires an adult handler as he has had little lead training and likes to move quickly. He is much improved now with the use of a restraining collar.
Reggie is a happy boy who loves human interaction and a good game of fetch. He’s not as keen on other dogs as he is humans so perhaps a home without another resident dog would be best.
