Kildare animal charity host Easter Dog Walk & Egg Hunt this Friday
The lurchers
WE hope you’ve marked your calendars for this Friday afternoon 3 April, when our annual Easter Egg Hunt & Dog Walk takes place at Punchestown Racecourse.
Once again, management has kindly allowed us use of the facilities for this family-aimed fundraiser.
Beginning at 2pm, the children will love picking up their maps and heading off to find the various tokens which can later be exchanged for a yummy chocolate egg.
Then at 3pm it’s off to the walking track we go with all our dogs (on leads) for a good stretch of the legs and plenty of fresh air. Good weather makes this even more pleasing!
Although there is no entrance fee, we do appreciate receiving money donations for the charity, the purchase of raffle tickets for our lovely hampers or making a purchase from one of our stalls.
Some of our volunteers will be on hand to answer your questions about the Society’s work. Please ensure dogs are always kept on leads and muzzled if the dog is listed on the Irish Restricted Dog Breed List.
Our shelter always has at least one lurcher in residence as unfortunately they are one of the most common breeds to end up in rescue.
We have several now of all ages but feature three of our handsome boys here. Red is six years old; Jasper is four and Ralph is only a year old. Red needs a home with another dog, Jasper needs a home without another dog and Ralph will be happy either way!
They are all lovely boys who are friendly to all the humans they meet and love a bit of attention and affection.
One good walk a day is usually enough for these lads who are a lazy breed and like to lounge around for the best part of their days. A secure garden, a comfy couch and lots of love are prerequisites.
If you are interested and would like to learn more about these boys, please go to our website for all their information and photographs www.kwwspca.ie/adopt-a-dog The KWWSPCA is a registered charity no. CHY 6280 and can be contacted at kwwspca@gmail.com.
