Kildare Rescue Tails: Foster carers required

The KWWSPCA really need foster homes where there is someone present most of the day to attend to the needs of the animals and provide a safe refuge
Would you consider becoming a foster carer for one of our animals?
We maintain a register of foster homes to help us out, but we still constantly find ourselves in need of more.
Our shelter is almost always operating at maximum capacity. When we can’t take any more dogs or cats, we contact our fosterers, or maybe put out an appeal on our social media, looking for a short-period foster home to get us out of difficulty until a free shelter space arises.
We also depend heavily on foster homes to care for dogs or cats who are recovering from surgery/illness.
A warm, comfortable place may be all that they require at that time, or perhaps medication to be administered outside normal shelter hours.
It is difficult to keep a dog confined to a small space at the shelter where there are so many distractions all around.
Our very young kittens and puppies also need fostering as they are often weak, need extra feeding and require that extra bit of TLC in their first weeks of life. We can only find permanent homes for them when they are strong, vaccinated and of eligible age to be advertised for homing.
We really need foster homes where there is someone present most of the day to attend to the needs of the animals and provide a safe refuge.
We have dedicated volunteers looking after our fostering programs who will be on hand when advice is needed. All necessary equipment and food will be provided for the duration.
Please remember that this is a completely voluntary program so there will be no financial gain for our fosterers.
The experience feedback from our fosterers is very positive. It is often seen as a good opportunity to share your home with a small pet for a short time while considering permanently adopting a dog or cat.
Fostering is very rewarding, essential to our work.
