Kildare Rescue Tails: Hero Indy is a blood donor

Good boy Indy!
Kildare Rescue Tails: Hero Indy is a blood donor

Indy

WE often receive updates on our adopted animals from the new owners and one recent one particularly caught our attention.

Indy, a beautiful young male lurcher, was adopted a year ago from the KWWSPCA by a family who now cannot imagine life without him.

He has been as good as gold, is very laid-back and settled into home life straight away.

He is so good that, having seen stories online of blood-donor dogs, the family chose to bring him to the Pet Emergency Hospital Donor Clinic so that he too could be a hero.

The staff there put both the family and Indy at ease, talked through the procedure, gave Indy a short sedative and collected a blood donation.

Indy slept for most of the day afterwards but was back to normal the next morning demanding his breakfast and then the usual playtime and walk on the beach.

This blood donation may very well have been life saving for another sick dog and Indy’s family love him even more now for being such a hero.

They encourage others with healthy young dogs to consider blood donation, if even just the once, as they found it such a positive experience.

Well done Indy, we at KWWSPCA are all so proud of you!

Although most of our rescue animals stay at the KWWSPCA Animal Shelter, we prefer to use foster homes for puppies and very young dogs; dogs and cats recovering from serious illness or injury, and heavily pregnant dogs and cats. This secure, peaceful and loving environment might be just needed for a few days or possibly several months.

We are always in need of Foster Homes, especially during puppy and kitten season.

We get great feedback from our Fosterers that it is a very positive experience for them.

Fostering also provides a great opportunity to care for an animal in your home for a short period if it is not possible to have an animal in the home permanently.

For more information about fostering dogs, please call the KWWSPCA Helpline on 087 6887136 or email kwwspcadogrehoming@gmail.com.

We wish to thank our supporters again for all they do for the animals in need. Their support does not go unnoticed.
