Kildare Rescue Tails: One year with my rescue dog

Ivan is thriving in his new home
THE KWWSPCA has a very dedicated group of volunteers who deal only with cats and kittens in our region.
Our cat-trapping team is currently hard at work trying to get as many feral cats neutered as possible before the kitten season fully kicks in again.
A colony of eight cats were neutered this past week by one of the trappers, which will now prevent at least 12 to 18 kittens being born into this cold, starving and overpopulated feral community.
Our ‘Trap, Neuter & Release’ team has a waiting list at the moment and are super busy but will get out to a job as soon as possible once on the list.
We believe that getting your cat neutered is such an important task that we have an all-year-round low-cost neutering scheme available.
Please be aware it is equally important to get the males neutered, especially if they are wanderers. Our Cat Section contact phone number is 089 4588162.
We often receive updates from those who adopt from KWWSPCA, which is lovely for us. This week we received a particularly beautiful message from Nicki who started as a foster mum for an injured dog but fell so in love with him that she adopted him within a matter of weeks.
Here’s what she had to say about Ivan to mark their first 365 days together.
"Ivan came into my life as a foster puppy from KWWSPCA, rescued from a grim situation that left him with a significant injury around his neck. Despite that hardship, the moment I first met him, his cheeky personality immediately charmed me.
“Not once has his scar defined him; instead, it only highlights his incredible resilience. In his presence, I've learned what it truly means to persevere — even as I face my only health challenges, Ivan and I share a deep, unspoken understanding that has bonded us profoundly. In April 2024 we made the decision to be each other's forever, and Ivan was officially adopted, and what an honour it was to sign those papers.” KWWSPCA is a registered charity no.
