Kildare Rescue Tails: Rescue dogs grow up fast!
Benson
HAPPY St Patrick’s Day everyone, we are looking forward to taking part in the Newbridge Parade today (Tuesday) while hoping for good weather.
We will have some dogs taking part but only those who are comfortable being in public.
Large vehicles, crowds and noise (however melodic it might be) can be very scary for dogs, even those used to living in an urban setting.
A lot of cute puppies pass through our gates and thankfully there always seems to be good homes out there waiting to adopt them. We always remind prospective owners that although they are at their cutest as tiny puppies they will often grow to be large dogs.

Unfortunately, as most of them don’t arrive to us with details of their breed or background, it becomes a bit of a guessing game. Last year we homed a litter of eight and were so sure that they would grow to be large dogs that this information was spelled out in no uncertain terms when we advertised them. Indeed, we were proved correct as we recently received photos (pictured here) of two of them when celebrating their first birthdays.
They are loved beyond measure and there were no unexpected surprises for their new families when those legs kept growing and growing! Please always think ahead when adopting a puppy that your home is still suitable once they grow to be adults.
Koko and Luna are two puppies currently looking for homes and although they are tiny now, they appear to be lurchers so will need a good high-fenced secure garden to keep them safe when older and preferably a good-sized garden too as lurchers love to stretch their legs.

They are available separately and all their information is on our website kwwspca.ie.
