Kildare Rescue Tails: Sonny happy to lounge around

WE feature a dog this week called Sonny, who was a previous subject of this article last May, but unfortunately, still hasn’t been chosen for a home.

We are all a bit baffled by this as Sonny is a lot easier going than some others who quickly found their homes before him.

Sonny is about 5 years of age, is in good shape, but is minus a tail as it had to be amputated owing to an injury he was carrying when he came into our care.

He is a friendly boy who thrives on human interaction, loves his cuddles and is an easy dog to walk on his lead.

He has behaved himself very well when brought out on excursions from our Shelter.

Although his general demeanour is relaxed, Sonny can react slightly to some dogs, which may indicate trauma from his earlier life.

Although he recently spent a lovely afternoon in the company of an older dog, we think it still might be best if he were to be the only dog in his new home. Like all lurchers, Sonny is quite happy to lounge around for a good part of the day and doesn’t require lots of exercise.

A comfy couch would be top of his wish-list. Owing to his breed, he is not suited to a home with cats.

Thank you to all who supported our Book Sale in Kilcullen recently. It was a great success as usual.

We will have another fundraiser in Kilcullen later on this year. A reminder that our Dog Show in Punchestown is scheduled for 14 September next and we will have all the details in our next article.

Our cat section remains very busy these weeks with lots of cats and kittens finding their forever homes.

It really is wonderful to see such success, and we wish all the families every happiness with their new family members.

Kitty Cottage will be open again without appointment this coming Saturday for those interested in adopting cats and kittens.
