WORK could be on the way to improve safety at a dangerous bend in a rural area near the Kildare/Wicklow border.
At a recent meeting of Kildare Newbridge Municipal District, cllr Tracey O’Dwyer raised the matter of the dangerous bend in the Grange Beg area through a question on the meeting agenda. She asked if the council could “confirm if it has investigated the installation of a safety barrier on the R412 at the Kennel Bridge to prevent vehicles from crashing through into the field, given the frequency of collisions on this bend?”.
A woman was seriously injured following a single-vehicle collision in the Grange Beg area in July of last year.
A report issued by Daragh Conlon, acting senior engineer in the Projects Team at Kildare County Council, clarified that the installation of a safety barrier had not yet been investigated, but went on to state that “it can be added to the Bridge Team Work Programme to action in Quarter 1 2026.”
