Contractor association speaks out against Kildare cycle lane

Moone to Timolin cycle lane
THE ASSOCIATION of Farm and Forestry Contractors (FCI) has expressed a number of safety and congestion concerns linked with the road works associated with the Moone to Timolin cycle lane project. This criticism comes with pre-existing local controversy around the project, which has been ongoing since the planning application was released.
The association is the “sole democratic organization representing land-based farm and forestry contractors in Ireland.”
FCI have expressed concerns mirroring that of the Moone Timolin Positive Action Group and local cyclists related to safety hazards with the narrowing of the road for cars and lorries, congestion issues in both villages, and safety for cyclists.
It wrote: “While the Association is not opposed to projects enhancing safety and sustainable travel, it raises real concerns—from vehicle collisions and impassable road widths to poorly designed infrastructure that may end up endangering cyclists and pedestrians rather than protecting them.”
