TRANSPORT minister Darragh O’Brien has confirmed that the controversial works on the R448 between Moone and Timolin form part of a national pilot project to test new cycling infrastructure designs.

"The farmers don’t want it, the truckers don’t want it and the locals don’t want it."

The Association of Farm and Forestry Contractors released a statement on the project that began works a few weeks back

WORK is now underway on the National Cycle Network (NCN) pilot project along the R448 in south Kildare between Moone and Timolin with Kildare County Council confirming that contractor Glas Civil Engineering is currently mobilising on site.

Repairs are expected to be completed by tomorrow afternoon
