A DRIVER in Monasterevin had their vehicle seized after they attempted to evade Gardaí detection.

Gardaí from the Naas Roads Policing Unit seized a vehicle in Monasterevin after an identified it via Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) alert while on patrol.

According to officers, the driver attempted to evade detection immediately after the alert was triggered. He was located a short time later, hiding in the lobby of a nearby apartment block.

Gardaí discovered that the man was an unaccompanied learner driver and that the vehicle had no insurance, no tax, no NCT, and a bald front tyre. The car was seized at the scene.

The driver is now due to appear in court on a charge of no insurance, while Fixed Charge Penalty Notices have been issued for the additional offences.

A Garda spokesperson wrote online: “If you take chances on the road, you will be found — and you will face the consequences.”
