KARE - the agency that supports all people with intellectual disabilities across Kildare, East Offaly and West Wicklow – celebrated 30 years in service with an event at the Keadeen Hotel in Newbridge last week (6 November).

The occasion – in association with the Department of Social Protection – was to celebrate this milestone of Kare’s sponsorship of Community Employment (CE) programmes.

National and local representatives, including Minister Martin Heydon, Senator Fiona O’Loughlin, representatives from the Department of Social Protection, community childcare providers, and past and present CE participants, were present to mark the occasion.

Minister Heydon presented a 30-year commemorative plaque to Kare’s new CEO, Margaret O’Neill, and all those involved in Kare's two CE programmes – Childcare and Adult Supports. Also in attendance were Matthew Behan, Chairperson of Kare's Board of Directors, and Rebecca Bolster, Board Member.
