A learner driver for over 40 years has been arrested by Kildare gardaí for drink driving.

Gardaí say the driver was on their way home from a local pub and ran 'out of luck' following a chance encounter.

‘They missed their turn into their housing estate and ended up driving into a Mandatory intoxicant Checkpoint.’ said the an Garda Siochana Kildare Facebook page.

‘They failed a roadside breath test and were arrested for drunk driving.’ 

A court appearance will follow while FCPNs will also be issued for the learner driver offence.

The car was also seized.

‘A case like this underscores the importance of responsible driving and adhering to legal requirements. Hopefully, the legal repercussions serve as a wake-up call for safer practices in the future,' added gardaí.
