A BRAND new animal welfare facility has been granted planning permission at Newtown near Rathangan, with a planning application granted by Kildare County Council for three purpose-built buildings, extensive site works, and supporting infrastructure.
The Kildare West Wicklow Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (KWWSPCA) was recently granted permission for the build of this facility, which will greatly expand its services across the county.
The proposed development includes two cattery buildings and one large dog kennel building, each designed to provide specialised care, isolation, and rehoming services.
The application also covers a range of supporting infrastructure and fifteen car parking spaces are planned, four of which will be equipped for electric vehicle charging.
The plans have been revised following a request for Significant Further Information. Updates now include a detailed noise management plan, revised landscaping and boundary treatments, enhanced ecological reports, and additional wastewater treatment specifications.
The new facility is expected to enhance animal welfare services across the county.
