Big Family Day planned for Kilcullen's Valley Park

Last year's event
Fancy Dress, Magic and Music are the headline attractions for Kilcullen's Valley Park Fairy Trail family day planned for Saturday 17 August.
The best Fancy Dress appearance at the event, which kicks off at 1pm on the day, will win a €50 voucher for Woodbine Books.
The day is organised by Kilcullen Community Action, with sponsorship towards the cost from Kildare Credit Union and Kildare County Council.
Among the attractions will be music from DJ Billy as well as local musicians, along with an Ice Cream Van, magician Billy Bubbles, Woodbine Books Story Telling, and fancy nails and face painting for the children from Pamper Me Beautiful.
The Valley Park Fairy Trail was established in 2019 and relaunched last year with many enhancements.
The park on the bank of the Liffey was established in the 1970s by Kilcullen Community Council and is maintained today by the volunteers of Kilcullen Community Action.
"It has all brought to life with love and commitment from a very passionate voluntary group," says Antoinette Buckley of KCA, leading the event and who was the leading light behind the establishment of the Fairy Trail.
"We are so lucky to have such a well maintained Valley Park right in the heart of Kilcullen with the river Liffey flowing through our town.
“Thanks to KCA-Tidy Towns volunteers and the CE workers for maintaining the Park on a daily basis."
Antoinette also reiterated a regular call for local support for the KCA tidy towns and other community enhancement programmes.
"If you are interested in volunteering please contact a member of the team, we would be delighted to hear from you — new faces, fresh ideas welcomed."
