For almost 90 years, Bradbury’s bakeries and restaurant has been part of Athy's fabric, particularly at Christmas time. The shop window on Leinster Street displaying skilfully decorated cakes has, for years, heralded the start of the festive season. While more recently, the fantastic Christmas window with its model trains, fun fair and ice skate rink has created a magical wonderland for children and adults alike.

This year, in the spirit of Christmas, Bradbury’s will host a special event on Friday at 7pm.

A Christmas miscellany will bring together local writers and musicians to share their memories of Christmas past and present in what promises to be the festive highlight of Christmas in Athy this year.

Capella Productions has enlisted the talents of Colm Walsh, Kay Lawlor, Noel Kavanagh, David Walsh, Dave Mulhall and Deirdre Walsh, as well as singers Dom Doody, Carmel Day and Darragh Ennis to welcome in the season of goodwill in words and music in what promises to be a special night.

All proceeds will go to the local St Vincent de Paul Christmas appeal.

Tickets are available from Bradbury’s, priced at €10. Seats are limited, so you are advised to get yours early.
