Former Kildare principal releases Christmas song

Eight-piece folk music group, Acoustic Bloom, recently released their song
.The group with members from Kildare and Kilkenny is made up of friends and family and has been running for the last ten years.
The group consists of Mary Kirwan, Liz Dempsey, Patsy Dempsey, Ed Kirwan, Kieran McQuillan, Gerry McGovern, Paul Colfer and Mike Hennessy. The group meet up once a month on a Friday for a music session in the Pembroke Hotel, Kilkenny.
Acoustic Bloom singer, Ed Kirwan, from Barrowhouse who was formerly a principal in Kilmead, said: “We enjoy the production experience. We’re all involved in all the songs. We have seven songs recorded at this stage and we’ve all had a go at lead vocals and then whoever’s not doing the lead will do the harmonies.”
Acoustic Bloom's musical inspirations range from Irish folk music all the way to Simon and Garfunkel, and is made up of singers, guitarists, tin whistle, fiddle and accordion.
Their new release,
is a retelling of the story of Christmas, with Kieran McQuillan on lead vocals, accompanied by a lovely blend of harmonies from the rest of the group. Acoustic Bloom’s music is written by Mike Hennessy and is recorded by the group with Martin Quinn from Jam Studios in Kells.
