Kilberry kids do a merry Christmas!

A scene from the junior and seniors class show, Kilberry NS.
THERE might not have been a pigeon lady, or even a Christmas Lobster, but all the kids at Kilberry National School pulled out every theatrical stop in the county to knock out four shows a night – for two nights – to leave barely a dry eye in the house.

“We could’ve charged a lot more!” laughed Linda the school secretary when hearing your reporter’s astonishment at such an ambitious undertaking.
“The Juniors and Seniors did the Nativity with Ms Prendergast, 1st and 2nd [classes] did
with Ms Carter, while 5th and 6th did with Ms McLernon – Yes. We have a teacher called Ms McLearnin’,” said Linda, rolling her eyes, having never heard that joke before.“3rd and 4th did
, which was basically a skit on all the staff,” said Linda.
Shane Sullivan, a local musician, did some singing and ukelele performance with all the classes between 3rd and 6th.
The shows were held on Tuesday and Wednesday nights (17-18 December) in the school hall, with all four shows on each night, “and both were full”.
“It was fair going, especially for the smallies, but for the older kids the novelty of being in school at night,” laughed Linda. “The parents, but especially the grandparents were so thrilled to see it."

Special words for SNA Cecilia who, along with Linda, were the gofers behind the curtain.

Linda concluded: “And Roisin Forde was on sound and lighting, and she was the hip-hop DJ for the night!”
