An actual calendar for 2025 has been produced by the Kilcullen Drama Group cast of Calendar Girls, which is currently in rehearsals for performances at the end of November. Proceeds from the sale of the calendar will go to the Oncology/Haematology Day Unit in Naas Hospital.

Meantime, rehearsals are at the high doh stage for the Tim Firth adaptation of the 2003 poignant comedy film of the same name, which itself was based on the true story of a group of middle-aged Yorkshire women who produced a nude calendar to raise money for Leukaemia Research in 1999. Their original goal was to raise enough money to buy a sofa for the local hospital's oncology treatment waiting room, but the initiative has since raised some £3 million for Blood Cancer UK. The play's action focuses on six of the original 11 Women's Institute members who posed for the calendar prototype.

The Kilcullen production opens on Wednesday 27 November and will run for four nights. Tickets are €15, and €20 on the Gala Night on Friday 29 November. There's a special Booking Number 087 4707652.

Lots of Kilcullen Drama Group familiar faces (and some new ones) on the rehearsal stage at the moment. Calendar Girls is directed by Eilis Phillips.
