The fifth annual Alzheimer’s Memory Walk will take place nationwide on Sunday 22 September. Set to be the largest Memory Walk to date, Annmarie Kett from The Alzheimer Society of Ireland in Kildare is urging Lilywhites to register now at www.memorywalk.ie and walk with her that day at Moore Abbey Woods. The Kildare Memory Walk will start at 11am from the Moore Abbey Woods car park.

Annmarie said she is “thrilled” to be a Kildare Local Champion for the 2024 Alzheimer's Memory Walk.
“I'm really looking forward to the Moore Abbey Forest Alzheimer's Memory Walk, which should attract large numbers,” she said. “I would encourage everyone around the county of Kildare to support Memory Walk and register now for their participation pack at www.memorywalk.ie. Let’s walk together on September 22nd for people living with dementia and their carers across Kildare. Let’s also remember loved ones who are sadly no longer with us and lived with dementia.”
The Alzheimer Society of Ireland is encouraging everyone to get behind this year’s event, supported by Payzone, to help raise awareness and funds to help those living with dementia.
Register online and you will receive an Alzheimer’s Memory Walk Participant Pack including your t-shirt and a special pack of Forget Me Not flower seeds to sow at home to help create an annual memory each time the flowers bloom. Adult registration costs €20 and a child’s pack is €5.
Memory Walk honours, remembers, and celebrates the 64,000 people in Ireland living with dementia, along with their families and carers. It also cherishes the memory of those who are no longer with us.
In 2023, 3,500 walkers participated in Memory Walk and raised over €120,000 which helped fund vital services for people with dementia, including daycare, daycare at home, family carer training, social clubs, cafés, and a national helpline.
