The Newbridge Stage Academy were one of the many highlights in the Newbridge parade
TOWNS across Kildare are preparing for a vibrant programme of St Patrick’s Day celebrations on March 17, with parades and street festivities planned from Naas to Athy.
In Newbridge, one of the county’s longest-running parades will get underway at 11.45am. The 2026 theme, “Volunteers and Business – the Heart of a Community,” celebrates partnership, participation and civic pride. The event will bring together voluntary groups, sports clubs, families and local businesses in a strong show of community pride.
Celebrations in Athy will begin at 3pm, with the town’s parade theme: ‘Community Spirit, highlighting the strength of the local bond and encouraging participation from local organisations and residents. Like every year, spectators can expect fun floats and a wholesome, family atmosphere.
In Monasterevin, the St Patrick’s Day Parade will start at 10am, beginning at Monasterevin AFC on the Tougher Road and travelling through the town to Barrett Park.
Vintage enthusiasts can also look forward to the annual St Patrick’s Day Parade and Road Run hosted by the Castledermot Vintage Club, which will feature an array of classic cars as part of the day’s festivities. It starts at 2pm.
Meanwhile, Naas will host the special Irish-language celebration organised by Cill Dara le Gaeilge on St Patrick’s Day. The festival will conclude with Féile Sráide Lá Fhéile Pádraig Nás na Ríogh, the annual Irish Language Saint Patrick’s Day Street Festival. The event will take place on Naas Main Street from 2pm to 5pm and is supported by Kildare County Council through the Creative Ireland Éire Ildánach Programme.
Earlier in the day, families heading to the Naas parade are being encouraged to make a morning of it at The Forge Inn. The venue is inviting parade-goers to stop by for brunch in the bar or restaurant before the festivities begin. Children can also enjoy free face painting.
Safe to say, there will be something to suit everyone this Paddy’s Day, so make sure to head over to one of the many events across Kildare.
