Renowned journalist to discuss debut novel at Naas library

KILDARE-BASED journalist and author Tanya Sweeney will be in conversation with writer Emer McLysaght at Naas library this week to discuss Tanya’s debut novel .
The event, hosted by Penguin Random House Ireland and Bantam, will take place in The Chamber at Naas library on Thursday 29 January from 6pm to 8pm. Admission is free, but must be booked through Eventbrite to reserve a spot.
The evening will centre on , a darkly comic and unsettling novel that explores obsession, celebrity culture and the blurred lines between fandom and fixation.
The story follows Esther, a woman who becomes consumed by an actor she glimpses in a London park. What begins as online curiosity escalates into full-blown obsession, leading her to leave her husband, drain their savings and travel to Canada in pursuit of the man she has never met.
Tanya is a long-established journalist and columnist who has written for a range of Irish publications over the past 15 years, including the , , , and magazine. She is currently a magazine columnist with the and a regular contributor to Irish radio and television.
Originally from Dublin, Sweeney now lives in Co Kildare, and has said her background in the music, film and television industries helped inspire her debut novel.
She will be joined on the night by Emer McLysaght, co-author of the bestselling series with Sarah Breen. Ms McLysaght is also a columnist with , and her next novel with Sarah Breen, , is due for publication in May. Originally from Kill, Co Kildare, she has lived in Dublin for more than 20 years and currently resides in Dublin 8.
