Gardaí are appealing for information about the collision in Kilmeany on Friday night.

A garda said he could smell alcohol from him, that he was in “floods of tears” and “visibly upset”.

He  “panicked” when he missed the junction and didn’t continue onto the next exit because his passengers would be late

Transport Infrastructure Ireland will be reviewing the junction to ensure safety for road users
