KILDARE Gardaí have ramped up their efforts to tackle road safety violations, seizing 99 vehicles over the past two weeks for road-related offences, with 49 of those seized being seized last week.
Offenses included driving without insurance, tax, or a valid NCT, as well as unaccompanied learner drivers.
As part of their enforcement operations, a checkpoint was carried out in Newbridge on Monday morning, where two motorists were caught driving on a learner permit.
Shockingly, one of the drivers had held a learner permit for the past 16 years without progressing to a full licence.
Gardaí have confirmed that proceedings will be issued in all cases.
Motorists are urged to ensure their documentation is in order to avoid penalties and potential vehicle seizures.
Similarly the week before, Kildare Gardaí seized a total of 50 vehicles under the same circumstances.
Two of the 50 vehicles were seized for no tax and no insurance with FCPNS issued and court appearances to follow.
Kidare Gardaí signed off in a social media post about the car seizures: “An Garda Síochána Kildare – committed to completing high visibility roads policing.”
