Kildare Co Council to streamline corporate activity

Aras Cill Dara
KILDARE County Council (KCC) has announced two moves to streamline its corporate activity for the next five years – to develop a new scheme for the formation of Strategic Policy Committees (SPCs), and a new corporate plan for the same period.
The council has published details of public consultations for the commencement of both of these processes.
SPCs strengthen the policy development role of the elected members.
They bring together both elected members, and people actively working within social, economic, cultural and environmental bodies to develop and review policies related to council services.
It is proposed that six such committees be formed by the council, covering everything from climate action to housing.
Kildare County Council is inviting members of the public to get involved by reviewing the draft scheme and making submissions, sharing your views and providing feedback, and both submissions on the SPCs, and the public survey on the Corporate Plan can be made on the Council’s website.
You can also make your submission via email to SPCScheme@kildarecoco.ie or by post.
All submissions should be marked ‘SPC Scheme 2024’, and must be received by no later than 5pm, Monday, 2 September.
All submissions made will be considered, and a report on the public consultation process will be provided to the elected members of Kildare County Council, to assist them in making the new SPC Scheme.
The corporate plan sets out the vision and strategic direction for Kildare County Council over the next five years, and to do so, Kildare County Council would like to invite members of the public to get involved by completing an online survey, sharing your views and providing feedback on your vision for its strategic development.
You can also submit your views in writing, via email to corporateplan2024@kildarecoco.ie or post a submission.
This consultation period closes on Monday September 9 2024.
