Leixlip houses are snapped up within minutes
Many slept in their cars from Wednesday night to secure a home
OVER one hundred people gathered at Harpur Lane housing estate in Leixlip, Kildare on Saturday to buy one of 25 new build properties up for grabs.
The properties were a mix of two- and three-bed homes, and a booking deposit of €5,000 was required to secure a home, with an additional €25,000 due when signing of the contracts.
The official viewing time was set for 10.30am on Saturday morning, but by 7am there was a huge crowd was forming outside the estate.
Many hopeful buyers arrived early Saturday morning to find that others had been there since Wednesday sleeping in their cars in order to secure a home.
Since names were taken in order of arrival, many people were disappointed and shocked that the properties were sold within minutes of sales opening, meaning they had to go home empty handed.
