Man arrested in Kildare hit & run investigation

The Kildare hit and run sparked an appeal for information and images of the vehicle believed to be involved were shared widely

A man, aged in his 30s, has been arrested in connection with single-vehicle hit and run collision in Kildare which occurred earlier this month.

The incident occurred at Derrymullen, Co. Kildare on the morning of Sunday 2 February 2025.

In a statement on Wednesday morning, gardaí say the man has been charged and released from custody. He will appear before Naas District Court later next month.

A female runner, aged in her 40s, was struck by a vehicle at the time. The female was removed by ambulance to hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries.

It sparked an appeal for information and images of the vehicle believed to be involved were shared widely.

“There were some concerns early on, but she’s fine,” said a local previously.

“The community is actively trying to find the driver, because somebody needs to put him off the road."

The woman and her family have received great local support and well wishes since the horrific incident.
