Monasterevin councillor is new chair of Kildare County Council

The elected members of Kildare County Council appointed councillor Kevin Duffy as Cathaoirleach of the County of Kildare at a special meeting of the County Council which took place at Áras Chill Dara in Naas on 19 December.
Councillor Duffy was presented with the chain of office at the meeting and succeeds his outgoing Cathaoirleach – and party colleague - Joe Neville who was elected to Dáil Éireann at the recent General Election.
The Fine Gael representative is from Monasterevin, and is married to Lisa Marie with two children.
Cllr Duffy is a chartered surveyor by profession, and after a decade in Australia, they couple returned home in 2017 and bought the former Hibernian Bank building in the west end of the town.
