STORM Darragh caused power outages across Kildare in Leixlip, Robertstown, Prosperous, Clane, Naas, Blessington, and Maddenstown, with full power not promised to return until Wednesday. A total of 400,000 people nationwide were struck as the first Red storm warning of the year delivered gusts approaching 150kph.

Curiously, the north of the county was much more affected, with a swathe of power cuts across the flatlands between Leixlip and Clonbullogue, before clearing on Sunday to leave freezing temperatures for the middle of the week. The biggest reported outage in Kildare has been in Morristown, north Newbridge, where over 2,500 people will not be able to switch on until 8pm this evening (10 December). There are still 13 outages across Kildare on Monday afternoon.
