St Mary's Cemetery, Carlow

People are afraid to visit a cemetery in Carlow and some are looking at other locations to have their loved ones buried. 

The claim was made about St Mary's cemetery at a recent meeting following reports of anti-social behaviour, including thefts and damage to graves.

The Carlow Municipal District meeting heard that members of the public are now afraid to visit the cemetery and that they are looking at other locations to be buried with regard to themselves and loved ones for the future, such is their concern.

Mayor cllr Fintan Phelan said the serious matter would be discussed at a forthcoming committee meeting.
