Tributes paid to decorated Kildare solider

Tributes have been paid to a decorated member of the defence forces following his passing.
Retired Regimental Sergeant Major Patrick (Paddy) Conroy of Skirteen, Monasterevin and formerly of Birr, Offaly passed away on Thursday.
Mr Conroy was a former member of The Military Engineer Core, McDermott Barracks, The Curragh Camp. He passed away at St Brigid’s Hospice, The Curragh surrounded by his loving family.
Mr Conroy is survived by wife Peggy, son Jason, daughter-in-law Janice, grandson Elliot, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours, friends and army colleagues.
Former colleagues paid tribute to Mr Conroy on RIP.ie describing him as a gentleman.
“He was a decent and fair man,” said one.
Reposing at his family home (W34 WC04) from 4pm on Sunday with Rosary at 7pm. Removal by Glennon’s Funeral Directors on Monday morning to arrive at St Brigid’s Church, The Curragh for Requiem Mass at 11am. Cremation afterwards in Newlands Cross Crematorium at 1.30pm.
