The Kildare Public Participation Network, in collaboration with the County Kildare LEADER Partnership, have announced Social Inclusion Week 2024 which will take place from 23-27 September.

Now in its eighth year, the event continues to promote the invaluable work of local organisations active throughout Co Kildare.

Since its inception in 2017, County Kildare Social Inclusion Week has become a significant platform for education and insight, providing opportunities for services, organisations, community groups, and educators to showcase their impactful work.

The county boasts numerous initiatives supporting individuals and communities facing issues that can lead to social exclusion, such as poverty, unemployment, homelessness, disabilities, and migrant relocation.

Social Inclusion Week aims to raise awareness about the available services, guide the community on how to access them, and highlight ways the general public can contribute through volunteering, fundraising, or simply spreading the word within their local communities.

Social inclusion groups and local community groups play a pivotal role in fostering inclusion, acting as the conduit for welcoming, engaging, and offering a sense of belonging.

This week serves as an opportunity for these groups to welcome new members and extend their reach within the broader community.

Moreover, Social Inclusion Week underscores the existing needs within the county, especially as its population grows. Many services are either under-resourced or inaccessible to those most in need.

This week serves as a call to action, encouraging the community to advocate for better services for all.

The launch of Social Inclusion Week 2024 will be a Community Arts & Crafts Exhibition hosted by KARE and the Newbridge Access Disability Group at the Newbridge Town Hall.

In all, 28 events will be running across the county, including Naas, Newbridge, Celbridge, Kildare town, Athy, Ballitore, Leixlip and Maynooth with events catering for all age groups. All events are open to the public, and everyone is encouraged to attend and participate.

A comprehensive calendar of events is now available at www.kildareppn.ie/siw-events.
