Kildare native and Irish country music star Michael English has just returned home following a hugely successful tour of the United States over Memorial Day weekend. The beloved singer performed in front of thousands during a whirlwind three-city tour that included stops in Times Square, New York, Boston, and a headline performance at a major Irish festival in the Catskills Mountains, which drew over 10,000 enthusiastic fans.

Fans from across the Irish-American community came out in droves to see Michael perform, with audience members praising the energy, emotion, and authenticity of his shows. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and calls for a more extensive U.S. tour in 2026 are already growing.

One of the most memorable moments of the tour came on Saturday night in Boston, where Michael took the stage at the Irish Social Club in West Roxbury. There, in front of a packed crowd, he was presented with a prestigious honour by West Roxbury Lord Mayor Richie Gormley. In a moving ceremony, Michael received an official resolution from the Boston City Council recognising his significant contribution to Irish country music—and most poignantly, for his heartfelt song “Come Home.”

The song, written by Michael to honour war veterans and their sacrifices, has struck a chord with audiences on both sides of the Atlantic. It has become a fan favourite on the annual Gertrude Byrne All-Star Irish Charter Cruise, where many veterans have had the chance to hear it performed live. In recognition of its impact, and Michael’s continued dedication to honouring those who served, Boston has now officially declared May 24th as “Michael English Day”—a tribute that fittingly aligns with Memorial Day weekend.

In an emotional climax to the evening, Michael invited all the veterans in attendance to join him on stage as he performed “Come Home” in their honour. The moment was described as deeply touching by many in attendance, with some moved to tears.

Speaking after the event, Michael expressed his gratitude: “I’m incredibly honoured to receive this recognition. ‘Come Home’ is a song very close to my heart, and to see how it resonates with so many, especially our veterans, means the world to me. This tour has been unforgettable, and I’m already looking forward to coming back next year for a more extensive tour across the U.S.”

With his heartfelt performances, growing fanbase, and the newly minted Michael English Day in Boston, the Kildare star’s American journey is far from over. For now, though, he returns home with memories of a tour that not only entertained—but truly made a difference.
