Kildare charity helped more than 1,000 dogs
Fundraising at Kildare Co Council
WE at the KWWSPCA are very grateful to the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine for its grant funding for animal welfare and for the award of €80,000 to the KWWSPCA for the coming year.
This is very welcome at a time of increasing costs for the society, especially veterinary costs. Special thanks must be given to Minister Martin Heydon for his support of animal welfare.
So far in 2025, the KWWSPCA has taken in and rehomed or helped more than 1,000 cats and dogs, enabling them to live much healthier and happier lives. Over 250 dogs and over 350 cats have been rescued and rehomed; all these animals would have been neutered (if old enough), microchipped, vaccinated and treated for worms and fleas before going to their new homes.
As well as these domestic pets, the KWWSPCA has also trapped, neutered and returned or rehomed over 420 feral cats, allowing them to live much healthier and safer lives.
The KWWSPCA is an entirely voluntary organisation. There are no paid employees and all the work done, in the shelter, in foster homes, in the charity shop, Noah's Ark in Newbridge, and all its welfare and fundraising activities are done by volunteers.
These volunteers are the backbone of the KWWSPCA and are to be greatly thanked for all the work they do as a team. We look forward to doing it all again in 2026 with all your support.
The staff at Kildare County Council has supported us tremendously over the course of two events recently held at the main office in Naas. We were very kindly given permission to run a mini pop-up shop on the premises, sell our 2026 calendars, hold a raffle and bring some of our volunteer dogs on site to meet the staff while they attended an annual cake sale which had been organised by Kathryn, a very kind staff member. The KWWSPCA is very grateful for the continuous support of the KCC staff and management.
Our fundraising events for 2025 are now at a close while we re-energise over the Christmas break and prepare for an even bigger fundraising year in 2026 as we now concentrate on the building of our new animal shelter. We wish all our readers and supporters a very happy Christmas.
