Kildare Rescue Tails: Cat doused in fuel

Tom & Cole

Thank you to all our wonderful supporters for attending our very successful Pop-Up Shop/Spring Fair in Newbridge Town Hall recently.

We were very pleased with the amount of money raised which of course all goes towards the care of our animals.

The weather was kind to us on Punchestown Walking Sunday, which was well attended and, as the designated charity for the event, we were out shaking our buckets and are grateful for all the generous donations received.

We were also talking about our work to all the lovely dog owners who were taking advantage of the nice day to give their pets a really good walk around the perimeter of the track.

Awful condition

Our cat section is as busy as ever and currently providing extra special care to two cats who both arrived in awful condition.

Tom came in a few weeks ago in such a terrible state that we cannot possibly publish a photo taken at the time.

It is thought that some type of fuel had been poured on him due to the scent. He has been receiving continuous veterinary treatment and has been in isolation at the shelter where he is loved and pampered.

Thankfully, he is on the mend and is looking so much better with his skin now clean and pink and he is in good form.

Another cat, Cole, has been living rough for some time but it was discovered that he had a broken jaw, so he has now come into our care at the shelter and is receiving veterinary treatment.

It is hoped he will make a good recovery. Our vet bills are climbing, and we appreciate all donations received. There is a very simple way to donate online via our website or we might see you in the Whitewater Centre, Newbridge on the June Bank Holiday weekend when we’ll be shaking those buckets again!
