Kildare Rescue Tails: Happy endings do happen

CeCe & Heathclif

We at the KWWSPCA just love a happy ending so we share three stories with you this week. First, there’s a beautiful cat called CeCe who arrived into our care with a broken hip after being hit by a car.

Heavily pregnant at the time and unable to deliver her kittens, a Caesarean section was performed by the Vet but sadly all her unborn kittens were already deceased.

Cece was lovingly fostered for several weeks with strict crate rest while she recovered from her injuries. With a lovely personality and an endearing injured ear, Cece has now found her forever home with Marianne.

Then we have Heathcliff, a wandering stray cat with a very badly matted coat who came into our care during a particularly cold spell.

His fur had to be shaved but he couldn’t be released into the outdoors in case he froze to death. Deprived of his freedom, Heathcliff mentally declined and was one of the saddest cats ever at the shelter.

He was completely unresponsive to any interest shown so he went to Ciara as a foster cat.

Ciara spent weeks cajoling him into a response until one day he lifted his head which gave Ciara the encouragement to persevere in breaking through his sadness and raising his spirits.

Ciara did indeed succeed and Heathcliff has now moved to his new home with Susanne from The Cat Sanctuary. He is doing well and even has a new buddy called Albert.

Finally, there’s Peggy, a lurcher, who came into our care in January with a dislocated hip and some other minor injuries. Fortunately, a foster home was quickly found for her where she made a great recovery, while all the time having the company of some resident dogs and the comfort of a loving home. In fact, Peggy made herself very much at home and, clever girl that she is, wormed her way into the hearts of her fosterers.

She was destined to stay and has now officially become a permanent member of the family. Well done, Peggy!

Time and time again we rely on our network of foster homes to help look after the injured and sad animals who arrive to us. We could not function without their highly valued help, and we express our gratitude for their kindness and dedication.
