Kildare Rescue Tails: Lurcher Lucy finds a home

A recent adoption at the KWWSPCA

Back in March, a female lurcher called Lucy came into our care in an appalling condition, which included a fractured leg. Nursed back to health by Olivia, one of our lovely fosterers.

Lucy was showered with love and attention. During this period of foster care, Lucy was moved briefly to another home while her fosterer was away and wouldn't you know, this temporary carer fell under Lucy's spell and very soon made the decision to adopt her. Such a happy ending to Lucy’s journey with KWWSPCA.

Many of our supporters are using the Return Bottle/Can Scheme at the moment to raise funds for us. It is amazing to see the amount of money being raised or the amount of goods/food being donated to us just by supporters putting in that extra bit of time to collect and return.

Such drinks bottles and cans (bearing the return/recycle logo) can be left in tied-up bags outside our shelter gate at any time as some of our Volunteers are very actively using the scheme to raise funds for essential equipment at our shelter.

One of our regular donors using this scheme is Andrea who visits us monthly with supplies, all purchased from her collecting bottles/cans in her workplace.

We are very happy to see Andrea drive up to our gate with her bounty and we express our gratitude to both her and all the other supporters using this scheme to help us out. Willow and Pearl, 10 year old Ragdoll Cats, have found such a home with Elaine who is one of our longtime shelter Volunteers. They will be loved and spoiled rotten.

As kittens are always in demand for adoption, it is particularly satisfying to see our older cats find some new homes.
