Kildare Rescue Tails: One lucky family out there for Benny

THIS week we are delighted to introduce Benny, a handsome young lurcher with a beautiful brindle-coloured coat and the cutest white socks.

Benny came into our care quite recently and has very quickly endeared himself to volunteers with his infectious personality.

This affectionate boy enjoys every bit of attention he gets at the shelter, yet he is completely undemanding of it.

He walks well on the lead and is relaxed around other dogs.

A meet and greet would be required however if he were to live with another resident dog and we cannot home Benny with cats.

There is a very lucky family out there for Benny and we are certain that he will make the most wonderful pet.

We continue to fundraise for essential roof repairs to the indoor dog kennelling barn at our shelter in Athgarvan, which are becoming increasingly urgent as the weather becomes cooler and wetter.

We are asking for the community’s help to raise the necessary funds that will allow us to carry out the repairs before winter sets in.

You can support this endeavour by donating your empty plastic bottles and cans, so we may return and collect funds for them through the Re-turn Community Initiative Scheme.

Our Cat section, Kitty Cottage has already fundraised successfully through the scheme to purchase costly quarantine cat-caging for which we are very grateful.

This time, every plastic bottle and can donated will go towards the roof work that is desperately needed to keep our rescue dogs warm and dry this winter.

If you live locally and would like to support us, you can place your collected bottles and cans into a tied plastic sack and throw it over our Shelter gates – Eircode W12 EV60.

If you have a substantial amount collected and live within a reasonable distance, then you can arrange for us to collect your donation by texting the word ‘Bottles’ to 089 458 8162.

We would also welcome online card or PayPal donations from local businesses and members of the public who wish to help us raise the funds with expediency.
